Executive of the Year 2016

Waldemar Halek is a finance executive focused on real estate with an outstanding track record of progressive and broad experience with entrepreneurial and complex organizations. Waldemar is a member of the senior leadership team of First Capital Realty (“FCR”), a TSX-listed real estate company, where he serves as the Vice President, Asset Management Analytics.

In his role at FCR, Waldemar oversees asset management analytics, forecasting, and valuations of the company’s $8 billion retail real estate portfolio across Canada.

Prior to joining FCR, Waldemar spent five years as the Vice President, Finance of Elad Canada, a group of companies that included a public issuer on Tel Aviv stock exchange and several private companies investing in and managing a diversified real estate portfolio in Canada and the U.S.. He also spent ten years with PwC LLP, a global accounting firm, working in offices in Toronto, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco.

Waldemar is a Chartered Professional Accountant in Canada and a Certified Public Accountant in the United States. He also holds Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Schulich School of Business and a dual Master of Business Administration degree from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and Schulich School of Business.

In his personal life, Waldemar enjoys outdoor activities with his wife Anita and their two little sons: Richard and Charlie. Waldemar also serves as the board member and treasurer of two not-for profit-organizations: Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce of Toronto and Tapestry.
